Alexander City native Roberta Alison Baumgardner became the first female athlete to receive a scholarship at the University of Alabama and playing on the men’s tennis team posted a record of 39-14 over three years
The remaining inductees went to school elsewhere but were Alabama natives who went on to stellar careers at the next level. Anniston, AL native and Seattle Seahawks legend Keith Butler, Tuscaloosa native and Olympic gold medalist Otis Davis, and Birmingham native and Milwaukee Brewers star Charles ‘Butch’ Moore round out the eight person class.
