LSU Tigers eliminate Arkansas, advance to CWS finals against Coastal Carolina

The LSU Tigers are currently the premier program in college baseball, and they just earned the right to play for what could be their eighth national title in dramatic fashion.

After defeating the Arkansas Razorbacks in the first game of the College World Series bracket in Omaha, the Tigers once again faced off against their fellow SEC competitors following Arkansas’ successful push through the loser’s bracket.

Arkansas needed to defeat the Tigers twice in order to advance to the championship series, while LSU needed just one win.

LSU defeated Arkansas in the first game with a dramatic ninth-inning comeback that saw an epic collapse from Arkansas. Down to their final out, the Tigers had runners on first and second while trailing 5-3. A shot out to left field was dropped, allowing both runners to score, tying the game:

Moments later, another knock brought across the winning run and sent LSU back to the championship series.

Meanwhile, Coastal Carolina is going to try to lock up their second national title and first since 2016 after ripping their way through the last couple months.

The Chanticleers dominated their regional and went on to win the super regional two games to none in Auburn, eventually coming out on top in all of their games in Omaha to enter the championship series. The team is on a 26 win streak. With the monumental task of LSU ahead of them, they will try to make history and end the year with 28 straight wins.

The best-of-three series gets started on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. CST on ESPN.
