U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) tortured the Alabama Crimson Tide when he was the head coach of Auburn, defeating the Tide in the Iron Bowl five years in a row in what was known in Tuscaloosa as “Tuberville’s Reign of Terror.”
Years removed however and now that he has become a prominent political figure within the state, while he still loves his Tigers he also wants schools from the state as a whole to succeed academically and athletically in this new era of college sports.
Tuberville has been among the most outspoken politicians when it comes to placing guardrails on the current wild west that is college sports today in terms of NIL and the transfer portal and has taken steps to address it.

Even though Tuberville is associated most closely with his run at Auburn however, he met with some of the most important officials at the University of Alabama in order to advance education in the state:
Enjoyed meeting with President Bell, Coach DeBoer, AD Byrne, and student-athletes from @UA_Athletics today to recap their excellent seasons and look ahead to the 2025-26 year.
Glad to be on the same team in rooting for our state’s educational success, but I did enjoy showing… pic.twitter.com/KhC4Ilo9FC

Meeting with head coach Kalen DeBoer along with Athletics Director Greg Byrne and the president of the school Dr. Stuart Bell, Tuberville welcomed them to his office on Capitol Hill.
“Enjoyed meeting with President Bell, Coach DeBoer, AD Byrne, and student-athletes from [Alabama Athletics] today to recap their excellent seasons and look ahead to the 2025-26 year,” he said.

While it was all friendly, he was sure to troll his friends from Tuscaloosa in his post with a nod to his days at Auburn.
“Glad to be on the same team in rooting for our state’s educational success, but I did enjoy showing them my painting of some of my favorite scenes from when I coached at Auburn,” Tuberville ribbed.
