Will Brooke, Republican candidate in Alabama’s 6th Congressional District, made quite a splash online several weeks ago when he released an ad containing footage of him literally shooting holes in ObamaCare.
The ad has since then been played over 140,000 times and featured on pretty much every major news network. On Thursday evening, Comedy Central’s liberal satirist Jon Stewart finally got his hands on Brooke’s ad.
“I wonder if we’ll see any new bill-shooting ads that will out bat-s*** the previous ones?” Stewart asked rhetorically.
The camera then cut to a scene in Brooke’s ad where he shoots the first hole in ObamaCare with a .40 Glock pistol.
“Oh, scary, a handgun?” Stewart said sarcastically. “Come on, are you trying to kill ObamaCare or give it a flesh wound?”
Brooke then pulls out a .270 Cooper rifle and hits the president’s healthcare law right in the center.
“I didn’t know you weren’t done yet,” Stewart said with a horrified look on his face.
Brooke then takes out his AR-15 and turns the Affordable Care Act into swiss cheese.
“Holy s***!” Stewart exclaimed. “When did opposing ObamaCare become the Sonny death scene from The Godfather?”
“These candidate-shoots-a-law ads are like Diehard sequels,” Stewart concluded. “Each one’s going to be crazier and more desperate than the last. It’s hard to imagine what’s going to come next.”
Brooke’s campaign responded to Stewart’s criticism of their ad Friday by saying it was a badge of honor.
“Anytime Jon Stewart hits a Republican, it can only mean that their message is pointed and effective,” quipped campaign spokesperson Mark McNulty.
