With the allocation of a grant worth more than $369,000, Brush Creek Park in Lauderdale County will soon receive upgrades to improve its recreational vehicle campground, along with other various features of the 89-acre area.

The capital, which will be utilized by the Lauderdale County Commission for the project, was provided through the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

Governor Kay Ivey announced the changes coming to the property situated along the Tennessee River near the Waterloo community.

“These improvements will further enhance the outdoors experience of campers and other visitors to Brush Creek Park,” Ivey said. “I am thankful that the Lauderdale County Commission recognizes the need for and importance of public parks in our state, and I am pleased to announce this grant.”

Funds will be used to provide electrical hookups for the 18 RV pads in the western part of the park while also making additional electrical upgrades. Additionally, the county plans to add new playground equipment. The park also includes public restrooms and shower facilities, a boat launch, a disc golf course, and other features.

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is responsible for administering the funding from the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

“A well-maintained park is an attraction that can bring in tourists and create community pride,” ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell said. “ADECA joins Gov. Ivey in commending local leaders for their commitment to improving this recreational area.”

The county is providing the required match of $369,425 for the project.
