Lakepoint State Park, located on the banks of the 45,000-acre Lake Eufaula, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week to open its newest attraction for guests.
Alabama State Parks officials, joined by local government leaders and members of the business community, announced an off-road vehicle and motorized nature trail to replace what was previously a golf course located at the park.
Lakepoint State Park offers a variety of amenities which include a full-service restaurant and lounge, marina, hiking trails, modern campground, swimming complex, tennis courts, and playgrounds.
At this time, guests must provide their own vehicle, but the park is working on a contract with Polaris, a Huntsville-based manufacturing company of side-by-side all-terrain vehicles to acquire units for rental.
A grant from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs helped fund the projects at Lakepoint.
Alabama State Parks director Greg Lein stated, “Recently, the Alabama State Park has been able to renovate 10 cabins and we are currently working on renovating an additional 10 cabins.”
Lake Eufala is already known as “The Bass Capital of the World,” and adding new motorized experiences to the park at Lakepoint offers additional entertainment options to guests.
“Providing this new ORV course here at Lakepoint is another example of expanding our offerings to a growing outdoor recreation segment, and if you enjoy a more relaxing golf cart cruise, you can also take a ride down our new motorized natural trail,” Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources commissioner Chris Blankenship said at the ribbon-cutting.
