Before SEC football teams take the field, the offseason is filled with speculation — and fans in Alabama hang on every word from their favorite head coaches.
Through media days and less than a month away from kickoff now, the focus is starting to turn to football rather than making stories out of every quote from a head coach. But every so often, a head coach says something which has the entire college football world either fired up, angry, laughing, or some sort of mixture between all of them.
That was the case Wednesday with Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze.
Freeze used an interesting choice of words when describing the kind of build he is looking for in his running backs, talking about how critical “length and girth” traits are at the position:

“I’m not hung up on the running backs weight but it is good that you have some that have some girth to ’em,” Freeze said. “But there is no doubt you need length and girth in this league up front and I think at linebacker too and it helps if you have it in the secondary.”

Of course, Freeze is talking about the advantage of having players who have ideal bodies for playing in the SEC, but the internet took this quote and ran with it.
Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin — who has been in the headlines all offseason for trolling Freeze — did it again and summed up how everyone felt about the quote with a simple face palm emoji:

It looks once again like a very interesting season brewing both on the field and in front of the microphone this year in the SEC.
