Alabama Governor Kay Ivey joined the totality of other Republican governors Wednesday in recognizing Jewish American Heritage Month. In light of a 400% increase in cases of antisemitism across the nation, the message from Ivey and 26 other governors rings loudly.
“As governors and community leaders, we are honored to recognize May as Jewish American Heritage Month, especially as Jewish people around the world face unspeakable persecution,” the governors said in a joint statement. “Our country has a long history of supporting Israel, and now more than ever, it’s important we stand in solidarity with the Jewish community against horrific acts of antisemitism, religious bigotry, and terrorism both in our country and across the globe.
“Throughout May, we are proud to celebrate Jewish heritage and the many positive contributions that the Jewish community has had on our nation while reaffirming our unwavering support for the Nation of Israel and her people.”

Also on the first day of Jewish American Heritage Month, the Republican Jewish Coalition, posted on its social media pages regarding the 400% increase in cases of antisemitism.
“Antisemitism has spiked nearly 400%. Jewish students at universities across the country have been attacked, harassed, intimidated, and barred from campus by antisemitic, anti-American mobs,” said the organization. “Even worse, these rampaging Hamas apologists are being cheered on by Hamas and Hezbollah terrorists, and disgracefully encouraged by Members of Congress, college faculty, and classmates.
“This is a time for moral clarity, courage, and righteous leadership. The Jewish community deserves and expects nothing less.
“And we are deeply, deeply thankful and grateful for the support and love from those who are standing with us.”
