U.S. Senator Kate Britt was asked Wednesday at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee what she expects to see in the upcoming vice presidential debate.
“I am excited to watch him debate Kamala Harris because it will not even be a contest,” Britt told FOX News in an interview, “our next vice president of the United States, JD Vance, is going to run circles around her. No doubt.”
The Vice Presidential debate between Vance and Harris has yet to be officially scheduled.
According to FOX, the two spoke on the phone for the first time briefly on Tuesday. In the call, both agreed to the debate but no details such as a time and place were discussed.
Prior to Vance being named President Trump’s VP, Harris had already agreed to a debate hosted by CBS News with whoever Trump selected for the position on July 23 or August 13.
In June, a former communications director for Harris told CNN in an interview that Vance represented “the greatest threat” out of all Trump’s potential VP candidates because of his oratory talents.
Trump’s campaign released a statement regarding a potential debate on Wednesday afternoon.
“We don’t know who the Democrat nominee for Vice President is going to be, so we can’t lock in a date before their convention. To do so would be unfair to Gavin Newsom, JB Pritzker, Gretchen Whitmer, or whoever Kamala Harris picks as her running mate.”
Those involved with the Trump camp have been pushing for a debate on Fox News, but Biden’s campaign will not agree to it.
As of yesterday, it was reported that the July date for a debate will not be happening.
