Katie Britt roasts ‘liberal media’ for turning ‘a blind eye’ to border crisis

U.S. Senator Katie Britt criticized the mainstream press Thursday over how it has covered the migrant crisis at the U.S. southern border.

Senate Republicans were able to block a funding bill for Ukraine and Israel aid Wednesday because of the lack of border security funding.

Britt (R-Montgomery) joined several of her GOP colleagues in a press conference demanding that real border security measures be added to any foreign aid bill.

“We have both a national security and a humanitarian crisis on our border,” Britt said. “The liberal media has decided to turn a blind eye to the fact that women are being raped on our border, that children are being recycled on our border, that we have laws that allow that to happen, and actually that’s what some of these children are going through.

“Guys, when are you actually going to call it like it is and not like the liberal left wants you to?”

The senator lamented the fact that the border funding Biden wants added to the National Security Supplemental bill will just exacerbate the problem.

“When we look at what Joe Biden sent us, he put more money for the border in there, but do you know what that was? It was stuff that continues to facilitate the mass migration that we see across our border,” she explained. “It was yet more of a magnet to draw more and more people here.”

President Joe Biden said on Wednesday that he’s willing to “make significant compromises on the border” if it meant securing aid for Ukraine.

Britt said the president needs to understand that border security is also national security.

“Senate Democrats and President Joe Biden are putting the American people last,” she argued. “We need to make sure we create deterrence. We need to make sure we create safety and we must do more for the people here at home. They deserve it and that is exactly what we are going to continue to fight for.”
