Katie Britt launches statewide law enforcement coalition, releases ‘Back the Blue’ TV ad

Thursday, Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Katie Britt announced the launch of her campaign’s law enforcement coalition and advisory committee.

According to her campaign, the “Stars and Shields for Katie Britt” coalition features more than 50 sheriffs and chiefs of police across Alabama.

Additionally, Britt released her new television advertisement, titled “Back the Blue,” featuring Shelby County Sheriff John Samaniego touting Britt’s candidacy. Samaniego, a Trump administration appointee, formerly served as a commissioner on the Presidential Commission on Law Enforcement and the Administration of Justice.

“I’m Sheriff John Samaniego. With the Biden liberals trying to defund our police, we need a Senator who’ll have our back, and that’s why I’m supporting Katie Britt,” Samaniego says in the ad. “Katie will get tough on violent criminals and fight for stronger borders to keep illegal immigrants and deadly drugs out of Alabama. Take it from me – Katie Britt is a strong conservative who will keep your family safe.”

In a statement, Britt conveyed her intentions to partner with and support Alabama’s law enforcement community to combat crime.

“In the Senate, I will always fight for the heroic law enforcement officers who keep Alabama families, neighborhoods and communities safe,” said Britt. “These incredible men and women leave the safety of their homes every day so that we can return to and live safely in ours. Their sacrifice and dedication to serving others is something we can never take for granted, and we owe them a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid. I am committed to being a proactive partner to our law enforcement officers in combatting crime, strengthening communities, and getting deadly drugs off the streets across our state.”

The primary election will take place on May 24, 2022.
