Both the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers are kicking off their seasons this week along with the rest of the SEC. As has been the case often in recent years, a television dispute is threatening fans ability to get the full slate of games.

Google, who owns one of the largest cable streaming services in YouTube TV, is in a dispute with FOX. Google has threatened to take the network off its platform ahead of week one on the college football calendar.

Auburn’s matchup against Baylor this Friday night is on the network.

The arguably biggest game of the weekend between Texas and Ohio State is also on FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff, leaving YouTube TV subscribers unsure if they are going to be able to watch either game.

U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) called the possibility “unacceptable” and instructed the tech giant to figure it out.

“It’s unacceptable that during SEC opening weekend, many fans wanting to cheer on Auburn against Baylor might not be able to watch,” Britt wrote.

“I hope Google resolves this quickly to keep Fox channels on [YouTube TV].”

The issue remains an evolving situation, however perhaps Britt — and numerous other important figures — making a statement could help to resolve things and not force the most passionate fans in the country to miss their beloved teams taking the field to start the season.
