WETUMPKA — Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Katie Britt suggests a degree of malfeasance when it comes to the application of President Joe Biden’s so-called vaccine mandate.
Tuesday night, Britt spoke to the Elmore County Republican Party. During the question-and-answer portion of her presentation, the former Business Council of Alabama head fielded a question about the Biden administration’s vaccine mandate.
Britt said the mandate was “totally targeted” at hard-working citizens, while those who have come to the country illegally or received welfare benefits face no such requirement.
“[Y]ou look at this vaccine mandate from Biden — it’s totally targeted,” she said. “It’s only targeted to hard-working, law-abiding Americans because if you were coming over that border like you were talking about, did Biden think you needed that vaccine? No, no, no. If you look at the people who are living off welfare in this country, which by the way — and if there is a federal nexus, your employees must be vaccinated — well, I’m pretty darn sure there is a federal nexus with welfare checks coming from the federal government. But did he ask any of those people to be vaccinated before they could cash that check? No.”
“The only people who were put in the crosshairs were people who were working hard to provide for their families — law-abiding, hard-working Americans,” Britt added. “So, yes — that’s what this whole America first, Alabama first movement is about — is making sure we put the needs of our citizens and our country first. And we move forward with what this country was founded on.”
