Republican Wells Griffith picked up a high profile endorsement this morning in his bid to become south Alabama’s next congressman.
Katherine Webb, Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron’s girlfriend, took to Twitter this morning to express her support for Griffith’s candidacy.
Webb’s profile skyrocketed last year when ESPN commentator Brent Musburger practically stopped the National Championship game to point her out in the stands.
“You quarterbacks, you get all the good looking women,” Musburger exclaimed. “What a beautiful woman. If you’re a youngster in Alabama, start getting the football out and throw it around the backyard with pop.”
In Yellowhammer’s “6 things to consider with one week to go in the AL-01 primary,” we pointed out that “of all the candidates in this race, Wells Griffith has the most national-level connections that might jump in during the last week of the campaign and deliver a flurry of free media attention for his candidacy.”
Admittedly, this isn’t exactly what we were thinking, but it will definitely get folks buzzing.
Happy to support .@wellsgriffith for congress in #AL01. He will do great things for our country. Great guy and great family!
