Josh Pendergrass announces candidacy for Alabama State Auditor

Josh Pendergrass, an attorney, pastor, and former state communications director for Gov. Kay Ivey, has launched his campaign for Alabama State Auditor, emphasizing government accountability, fiscal responsibility, and conservative principles.

Pendergrass, who founded the Pendergrass Law Firm in Albertville in 2011, brings over 14 years of legal experience to his bid for office. His practice areas include family law, juvenile law, church law, and estate planning. He has also served as contract juvenile counsel for the State of Alabama, providing legal support for vulnerable populations.

In addition to his legal career, Pendergrass has served as both a full-time and part-time pastor in congregations across Alabama. According to his campaign website, he has led efforts to strengthen church communities, grow youth outreach programs, and promote family involvement.

Pendergrass also held the position of Communications Director for Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, where he played a key role in shaping public messaging and supporting the administration’s policy goals. He has worked on legislative and statewide campaigns and says this experience gives him insight into the needs of Alabama citizens.

His campaign platform for State Auditor includes commitments to champion government transparency, strengthen voter integrity, and promote a “Put Alabama First” agenda. He also aligns himself with the policy direction of  President Donald Trump, stating he supports advancing Trump’s agenda in Alabama.

Pendergrass holds degrees from Lambuth University, Jones School of Law, and the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is a first-generation college graduate and credits his upbringing, including time spent being raised by his grandparents, for instilling in him the values of hard work and community service. He and his wife, Leslie Brown, are raising their family in Alabama.
