Former Alabama Republican Party Chairman and candidate for Alabama Lieutenant Governor John Wahl, who is endorsed by President Trump, sharply criticized liberal media outlets over the weekend for what he described as an “unsourced and politically motivated hit piece” attempting to manufacture division between Donald Trump and Katie Britt.
The CNN report, citing unnamed sources, alleged that President Trump made critical remarks about Senator Britt. Both the White House and Senator Britt’s office have publicly denied a strain in their relationship.
“There is no journalistic integrity in publishing a story built entirely on anonymous sources and speculation,” Wahl said.
“CNN cited unnamed sources making dramatic claims, yet provided no direct quotes, no evidence, and no verification — even after both the White House and Senator Britt’s office denied the narrative. This is exactly the kind of fake news Americans have grown tired of: no facts, no names, no proof — just a liberal agenda.”
Wahl said the timing of the report is no coincidence, with the midterm elections around the corner and tensions high as key votes are on the horizon.
“With midterm elections approaching, the socialist left and their allies in the media are desperate to divide the conservative movement. They know Republican unity is our strength, so they manufacture fights and controversy in an attempt to weaken it. The people of Alabama will see this for what it is — another baseless political attack dressed up as news.”
Drawing on his experience as Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party, Wahl emphasized his firsthand knowledge of both leaders.
“In my role as Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party, I’ve had the opportunity to work with both President Trump and Senator Britt on many occasions. I can tell you that they share a strong partnership rooted in conservative principles, traditional American values, and a commitment to putting our nation first. The people of Alabama know that Katie Britt is a rock star who fights every day for our state and for the America First agenda. She has a 100 percent pro-Trump voting record in the Senate. If there was any serious division between Katie Britt and the White House we would hear about it from them, not liberal reporters.”
Wahl concluded by reaffirming Republican unity in Alabama.
“Alabama Republicans stand united. No amount of anonymous gossip or media spin will change the facts. President Trump and Senator Britt remain strong conservative fighters, and together, Republicans will continue working for conservative victories across this great state and our nation.”
