John Merrill: Weather will not change polling hours

On Monday evening, Secretary of State John Merrill released a statement confirming that potential severe weather in Alabama will not change polling hours for Tuesday’s general election.

The release stated, “All polling sites in each one of Alabama’s 67 counties are scheduled to be open in the morning at 7 AM and will remain open until 7 PM tomorrow night as scheduled.”

Even though there are some polling sites that are currently located in school facilities in certain counties and some of these counties have a delayed opening for schools tomorrow, these polling hours will not be affected, either. This means that even if a school has a delayed opening, the polling site located at that school will open at the regular time of 7:00 a.m., as will “all polls … in all jurisdictions.”
