Jefferson County GOP to host 2024 presidential straw poll

On Wednesday, the Jefferson County Republican Party announced a straw poll is taking place in Gardendale on January 20 for the 2024 U.S. presidential election GOP primary.

“Jefferson County GOP Executive Committee will be holding a Presidential GOP Straw Poll Saturday January 20, 2024, from 9:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.” the county party said. The event will be held at the Gardendale Civic Center, with an admission cost of 15 dollars, which includes breakfast along with a ballot.

State and local GOP candidates who will appear on the March 5, 2024 primary ballot alongside the presidential contenders will also be in attendance.

Former President Donald Trump remains the overwhelming favorite to win the Republican nomination for president, according to recent polls.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, and former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson are all also still in the race for the Republican nomination with the Iowa Caucus just weeks away.

The Alabama Republican primary will be on March 5, 2024.
