The race to replace term-limited Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall in the 2026 Republican Party primary election is off to a fast and big-money start.

Jay Mitchell, who stepped down from his office as Associate Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court last month to run for AG, transferred $638,538.01 from his previous campaign balance. In the month of June, he reported raising $627,840.00, bringing his current total campaign war chest to $1,288,362.86.

His campaign touted the total haul on Wednesday.

“This early support is humbling and energizing,” Mitchell said. “It tells me that Alabamians are ready for a conservative fighter who will stand with President Trump and keep Alabama families safe.”

Katherine Robertson, who serves as AG Marshall’s long-time chief counsel and formerly as a top staffer to Jeff Sessions during his time in the U.S. Senate and as U.S. Attorney General, was not to be out-done.

Robertson, in her first fundraising filing since launching in early June, reported that she raised $1,255,620.00 in the same month.

Her campaign notes that she did so without any carry-over funds from previous campaigns.

“It is heartening to have earned the confidence of so many individuals who care deeply about what we do,” Robertson said on Wednesday.

“Working in the AG’s Office is a true honor. I see this early support as affirmation of all that we have accomplished over the last eight-and-a-half years to make our state safer and our country freer. With a great team behind me, I am ready to carry this early momentum all the way to the finish line next year.”

According to her June monthly report, Robertson’s donors included a mix of individual and corporate donations, as well as a $1 million contribution from First Principles Action, Inc.

With over $1.25 million raised and less than $25,000 spent, Robertson’s current cash-on-hand balance sits at $1,231,595.12.

According to her campaign, her first filing shatters expectations and “reflects a broad base of support from inside and outside the state—a testament to her reputation within the law enforcement community and the broader conservative legal movement.”

Pamela Casey, District Attorney of Blount County and also a candidate for Alabama AG in 2026, reported having a total of $66,871.33 in her latest June filing.
