Ivey to attend GOP governors conference in Florida

Gov. Kay Ivey will be in attendance for the Republican Governors Association’s (RGA) conference in Florida this week.

In a Twitter thread posted Monday, Alabama’s 54th chief executive noted the dominant victories GOP governors in the southeastern U.S. saw during last week’s midterm elections.

Republicans hold a six-state majority of governorships, besting the Democratic Party in controlling 28 executive branches across the nation. According to Ivey, the GOP’s success in gubernatorial races can be attributed to the party’s “focus on what matters.”

“[J]ust as I have said at home in Alabama, folks want their elected leaders to focus on what matters,” wrote Ivey. “Republican governors are doing that. That is why we saw elections handedly won here in Alabama, as well as in our neighboring states like FL, GA, TN, SC and AR.”

For Ivey, the conference is an opportunity to continue forging relationships with her Republican counterparts to advance the conservative agenda.

“I look forward to continuing our strong partnership with these governors and others as we look to move Alabama and our nation forward,” she wrote. “There’s still more work to do, but together, we can ensure the best is yet to come!”

In a dominant election night performance, Ivey coasted to a second term in office by 37.7%.
