On Saturday, the Governor’s Mansion in Montgomery was filled with excitement as Kay Ivey hosted the 6th Annual Magic Moments Easter Egg Roll. About 100 children, along with their families and guardians, gathered on the mansion’s lawn for a day of festive fun and community spirit.
The highlight of the event was the Easter egg hunt, when a young man named Charlie Tidwell discovered the ultimate prize, a coveted golden egg. As the lucky finder, Tidwell received a special Easter basket filled with goodies presented by Governor Ivey.
The annual Easter egg roll is part of Magic Moments’ ongoing commitment to creating joyful experiences for children facing chronic or life-threatening conditions. Magic Moments, founded in 1984 and based in Birmingham, is Alabama’s only wish-granting organization dedicated solely to children within the state. Over the years, the nonprofit has made dreams come true for more than 5,000 children across all 67 counties.
According to Magic Moments, its mission is to grant non-medical, memorable experiences to children aged 4 to 18 who are living with severe health challenges. These moments include anything from family trips to meeting celebrities or enjoying shopping sprees. The organization continues to support families through its ‘Beyond the Moment’ program, which provides year-round activities and events, such as family nights at ballparks and holiday gatherings.
In addition to events like the Easter egg roll, Magic Moments hosts a Family Camp at Children’s Harbor on Lake Martin each Memorial Day weekend. The camp provides families with a chance to relax, reconnect, and form new friendships in a supportive environment, all at no cost.
