Ivey shares Easter message — ‘Take heart, He has overcome the world’

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey on Friday shared with the public an Easter message deeply rooted in her Christian faith.

In a video, Ivey begins by acknowledging the strange COVID-19 induced circumstances in which many Alabamians find themselves this Easter season.

“I know it is easy to be discouraged with everything that is happening in our world right now,” starts Ivey before adding that she understands how social distancing guidelines can cause people to feel “isolated and lonely.
Ivey, who has long made prayer and references to scripture a hallmark of her public remarks, urged Alabamians to consider John 16:33.

The scripture, as quoted by Ivey, reads, “In this world you will have trouble, but take heart! He has overcome the world.”

Ivey further asks the public to “give thanks to the Lord for His blessings on our lives and remember each other in prayer.”

Remember, we’ll get through this, together, even when we are standing six feet apart,” says Ivey as part of her conclusion.
