Ivey declares ‘Alabama Woods to Goods Week’

This week has been proclaimed Alabama Woods to Goods Week by Gov. Kay Ivey. The timing, according to the Alabama Forestry Association, was meant to coincide with National Forest Products Week.

Woods to Goods is a week-long celebration that promotes the state’s forest products industry’s professionals, resources, companies, and environmental and economic impact.

Activities taking place through Saturday will include mill tours, log site visits, forest product donations, a prescribed fire demonstration, and many other educational events for students. Public officials will highlight the industry’s environmental, community, and economic impact.

The forest and forest products industry contributes more than $28.9 billion to Alabama’s economy and also employs 119,272 Alabamians.
