A man wanted by the Italian government for sexual abuse of a minor was arrested Friday in Madison County, according to a joint announcement from multiple law enforcement agencies.
Alberto Palla was taken into custody on immigration violations by agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and local law enforcement partners.
During a search of Palla’s home in Madison, investigators say they also uncovered multiple fraudulent forms of identification.

“The FBI is fully committed to crushing violent crime, and we appreciate the remarkable work and strong partnerships in removing the worst of the worst from our communities,” Special Agent in Charge of the Birmingham Division David Fitzgibbons said.

According to authorities, Palla is detained and awaiting deportation.
Palla’s arrest is part of “Summer Heat,” a nationwide FBI initiative launched to target violent crime during the summer months. The operation focuses on coordinating with local and state agencies to execute federal warrants, apprehend fugitives, and dismantle violent gangs.
