Huntingdon College enrollment has topped 1,000 students as the Montgomery institution marks its sixth consecutive year of enrollment growth.

The college announced Thursday that fall enrollment stood at 1,018 students after the second week of classes, up from 959 in fall 2025.

“The Huntingdon experience provides an attractive value to our students and their families,” Huntingdon President Anthony Leigh said.

Leigh said students are drawn to the college for its pre-professional education, opportunities to participate in athletics and student organizations, and its close-knit campus environment.

The fall semester also brought Huntingdon its largest entering class in school history, according to the college.

Seventy-two percent of Huntingdon students come from Alabama, while another twenty percent are from Florida and Georgia.

More than 40 members of the entering class are participating in Huntingdon’s new rural teacher education initiative. The program recruits students from small Alabama communities who commit to returning home after graduation to help address the state’s teacher shortage.

Residential enrollment also reached a record high, with 87% of students living in campus housing this fall. Huntingdon added two houses and seven apartment units to its residential footprint in Montgomery’s Cloverdale neighborhood over the summer.

The college also recently completed improvements to several campus spaces, including the Huntingdon College Outdoor Aquatics Center and a renovation of the top floor of the YWCA Hut for meetings and campus events.
