Huntsville police announced on Monday that Officer Albert Morin returned to duty after being seriously wounded in a March shooting that put him in critical condition. He was released from the hospital in April.
Morin, 34, expressed his sincere thanks for the support he’s received while recovering.

On March 28, Officer Morin and Officer Garrett Crumby, 36, responded to a shots fired call while on duty. According to officials, Juan Robert Laws, 24, took aim at the responding officers before barricading himself in an apartment building. Officer Crumby was killed in the shooting.
Laws was charged with capital murder of a law enforcement officer. Prosecutors are expected to pursue the death penalty.

Officers from the Huntsville Police Department came together for an astounding show of force the night of the shooting. Many gathered in prayer for Crumby and Morin outside of Huntsville Hospital as their fellow officers underwent emergency surgery.
Morin’s return to service this week was an answer to those prayers. The department said, “we’re happy to have him back.”
