House Oversight Committee says Biden committed impeachable offenses

Alabama’s elected officials in Washington are reacting to a new report that outlines impeachable offenses committed by the current president.

Earlier this year, then Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy launched an official impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden, alleging that he partnered with members of his family in an influence peddling scheme while he was vice president.

The House Oversight Committee released its impeachment inquiry report Monday.

“The evidence produced by our impeachment inquiry is the strongest case for impeachment of a sitting president the House of Representatives has ever investigated,” the GOP House Oversight Committee posted on X. “Americans now know Joe Biden was ‘the brand’ the Bidens sold around the world to enrich the Biden family, and Joe Biden knew of, benefitted from, and participated in his family’s influence peddling schemes.”

They also argue that Biden obstructed the investigation.

“Our report details evidence to establish President Biden abused his office and violated his oaths of office as Vice President by engaging in a conspiracy to peddle influence to enrich his family,” it read. “Then as President, Joe Biden and the Biden-Harris Administration obstructed the House of Representatives’ impeachment inquiry and the criminal investigation of President Biden’s son.”

U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover), who sits on the Oversight Committee, said the truth of the Biden family’s corruption is finally coming out.

“The Biden-Harris Administration has continually sought to obstruct our investigation of the Biden family,” Palmer said. “Finally, we have exposed the truth of the Biden family’s corruption.”

Earlier this year, Palmer lamented that someone in the Biden family seemed to be lying to the committee.

“Someone appears to be lying to the committee,” he said. “The inconsistencies seem to be coming from Jim Biden, the president’s brother. Lying to Congress is a serious offense.”

U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) also reacted to the news in the report.

“The evidence has become clear of the influence peddling associated with the Biden family,” Aderholt said. “Remember in 2020 when we were told basically that there was nothing to see here, it’s just foreign misinformation?”

While the committee did not add articles of impeachment in its report, it did recommend the full House look into the matter and take appropriate action if needed.
