Hotel Wildemont: Mountain Brook’s $35 million hotel drops Grand Bohemian name after a year as one of its owner’s top performers

The Grand Bohemian Hotel Mountain Brook became Hotel Wildemont on Thursday morning.

General Manager Tiffiany Holmes and Mountain Brook Mayor Graham Smith unveiled the new name at the Lane Parke property before a crowd of city officials and business partners.

The rename is the second move in a four-hotel brand overhaul by the property’s owner, Orlando-based real estate investment trust Xenia Hotels & Resorts.

Xenia moved management of its four Kessler Collection-branded Autograph Collection hotels to Atlanta-based Davidson Hospitality Group earlier this year and told investors in July it would rename all four within months.

The Grand Bohemian Orlando became Hotel Beauden in September. Xenia’s Charleston and Savannah hotels still carry the Kessler name.

Mountain Brook has been one of the strongest hotels in Xenia’s 30-property portfolio this year.

Smith said the hotel is sold out this weekend for Antiques at the Gardens at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

“This weekend is Antiques at the Gardens. We have 100% occupancy,” Smith said. “You typically are running at a grand occupancy rate. You’ve been so successful. We know that will continue for years to come. We, as the city of Mountain Brook, are here to support you in that endeavor and be your partner.”

“The events that you host here, the way that you work with the city at that level, you have truly been such a local partner to us, and we’re excited,” Smith said.

Holmes said the name was built from “wild,” for wilderness and the city’s tree canopy, and “mont,” an old word for mountain.

“Everything that we do from this day forward is to embrace where we live, what we do here, and have a community hotel for all of you to come and enjoy,” Holmes said. “All of these things are built around inviting local artisans to come in and teach us their craft, and it’s about going local here.”

“Hotel Wildemont represents a meaningful new chapter for our hotel, but the heart of the experience remains unchanged,” Holmes added.

“Our guests, neighbors and community partners will continue to be welcomed by the same team, the same thoughtful service and the same commitment to hospitality that have long defined this hotel.”

The hotel opened in October 2015 as the anchor of Daniel Corporation’s Lane Parke redevelopment in Mountain Brook Village, on the site of the former Mountain Brook Shopping Center.

Robins & Morton built the $35 million project.

Xenia held the majority stake in a joint venture with Kessler, which developed the hotel and managed it for a decade. Kessler founder Richard Kessler created the Grand Bohemian brand and was a founding partner in Marriott’s Autograph Collection.

Xenia CEO Marcel Verbaas called the Mountain Brook hotel “the first of its caliber in the state of Alabama” at opening.

Kessler has been losing management contracts elsewhere.

The Orlando company handed operations of several of its own hotels, including the JW Marriott Savannah and Casa Monica in St. Augustine, to Highgate in November 2025.

The Mountain Brook property stays in Marriott’s Autograph Collection with 99 rooms and suites, about 14,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, the spa, the cooking school, the rooftop restaurant Habitat Feed & Social and the Raymond Vineyards wine-blending program.

Davidson’s lifestyle division, Pivot, runs the hotel.
