One of the South’s leading residential developers is poised to begin building approximately 200 new homes in Hoover after finalizing a property purchase in the city’s new Riverwalk Village development.
Birmingham-based Signature Homes purchased 24 acres on the site from CR Endeavors and is expected to begin work in the early months of 2025 on single-family and multi-family homes in what will ultimately become a vibrant mixed-use development centered around health and wellness.
“Riverwalk Village is not just another subdivision,” said Jonathan Belcher from Signature Homes. “We are eager to get started creating a community where shared greenspace helps neighbors connect, residents can walk to local restaurants and shops, and healthcare is convenient and close.”
In addition to the residential development on the southern part of the site, CR Endeavors has development plans for a hotel, other commercial uses, and approximately 25,000+ square feet of retail and restaurant space. They have engaged Crawford Square Real Estate Advisors as the leasing agent for the retail offerings. CR Endeavors is also working with the Hoover Healthcare Authority to secure providers for Riverwalk Health & Wellness Center, which will include an ambulatory surgery center and diagnostic clinic.
“We’re excited to be moving forward with the project and getting the residential component underway,” said Christy Roddy, Chief Strategy Officer of CR Endeavors. “There is gathering momentum and considerable interest from people who know Riverwalk Village is going to be unique to the area.”

Health and wellness will be a prime focus at Riverwalk Village, and the development will include a variety of park-like amenities and miles of trails to enhance the quality of life in Hoover and surrounding areas.
“It’s gratifying to see the ‘village’ part of Riverwalk Village coming to life with the recent sale to Signature Homes,” said Alan Paquette, chair of the Hoover Healthcare Authority. “As we continue to put the pieces in place for the Health and Wellness Center, we are excited for other aspects of this community to get underway to support the vision and our continued growth in Hoover.”
The project has received significant interest from businesses that go beyond healthcare.
“We have had a very enthusiastic response from retailers and restaurant owners about the Riverwalk Village concept,” said Mary Beyer Lell, Principal and Head of Leasing with Crawford Square. “The development is a destination location that will provide a different experience from the current offerings in the market. We anticipate a curated mix of restaurants and service-oriented shops that will be unique and round out the offerings there.”
The new development is located on a 90-acre tract on Riverchase Parkway that includes 450,000 square feet of existing corporate offices. About 176,000 square feet are being redeveloped from corporate office space to an outpatient medical facility to bring much-needed healthcare services to the area.
