Smith conveyed his gratitude for the endorsement.

“As a retired HFD captain, I am honored to have the endorsement of the Hoover Fire Fighters Association,” said Smith. “These fine men and women risk their lives to keep our community safe, and they know I will fight for them to have the resources and tools they need. Public safety should always be priority # 1 for city leaders!”

Smith is one of four candidates vying for the Place 2 seat in the upcoming municipal election on August 26. His opponents include Clint Bircheat, Kenneth Cox Jr., and Copeland Johnson.
