Heritage to run ads targeting Aderholt, Bachus, Roby and Rogers on Obamacare

On Monday, the conservative think tank Heritage Foundation’s political arm Heritage Action announced it would be launching a $550,000 so-called “Defund Obamacare” ad campaign.

This campaign is set to hit 100 Republican-controlled congressional districts with the goal of encouraging holdouts on defunding Obamacare in the House Republican caucus to support those “conservative efforts” to defund the law.

“The American people may have been locked out of the legislative process that gave us Obamacare, but they will be the force behind stopping this unworkable, unaffordable law,” Heritage Action CEO Michael A. Needham said in a release.  “Congress should seize the moment and defund the entire law.”

The campaign calls on Republican members to sign on to a letter by Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., that urges House GOP leadership to take the steps necessary to defund President Barack Obama’s 2009 health care reform law, including on through using a year-end funding bill like a continuing resolution.

It will target four of the seven members of Alabama’s House delegation, including Reps. Robert Aderholt, R-Haleyville, Spencer Bachus, R-Vestavia Hills, Martha Roby, R-Montgomery and Mike Rogers, R-Saks.

Last week, Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Mobile, explained why he hasn’t signed on to the strategy, saying that using a government shutdown to attack ObamaCare isn’t something that should be lightly walked into.
