Guests: As military veterans, we call on Tommy Tuberville to cease his false smears against our fellow veteran, Jeff Sessions

As veterans of America’s armed forces, we know and revere the qualities of courage, honor and integrity.

There is no doubt that Jeff Sessions is a man of integrity who has served America with honor and distinction. For 10 years, Mr. Sessions served as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve, attaining the rank of Captain. He also served Alabama and the nation as a U.S. Attorney, Alabama’s Attorney General, U.S. Senator and as the 84th Attorney General of the United States. No one can doubt his commitment to our nation or to America’s soldiers.

Unbelievably, in a recent article, his political opponent, Tommy Tuberville, falsely attacked Jeff Sessions and claimed that Mr. Sessions has “abandoned” America’s troops.

This is a false smear that reeks of political desperation.

Jeff Sessions has worn the uniform of the American soldier and pledged his sacred honor to defend America at all costs — even at the cost of his life.

Tommy Tuberville has never served in the military, and yet he has the gall to falsely attack and demean Mr. Sessions.

As veterans of the U.S military and as Alabamians, we demand that Tommy Tuberville apologize, retract his words, and cease these false and desperate attacks against Jeff Sessions.

Jeff Sessions is a patriot who believes in the rule of law, the Constitution, and conservative principles such as limited government, lower taxes, and individual liberty — and he has always been a forceful and effective advocate for the U.S. military and veterans.

We are proud to stand with Jeff Sessions.

Richard F. Allen served as a Brigadier General in the U.S. Army. Clayton Hinchman served as a Captain in the U.S. Army, and is a Purple Heart Recipient for wounds sustained in Iraq. Phil Guin served as a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Air Force. Tim Russell served as a Captain in the U.S. Army, and is a Veteran of the Vietnam War.
