Alabama Governor Kay Ivey is once again among the beloved chief executives in America.
According to the latest Cook Political Report ratings for April, Ivey has an approval rating that sustains her place among the most popular governors in the nation, ranking 11th overall and fifth among Republican governors.
Ivey’s approval rating came in at 60%, with a 34% disapproval rating. Her net approval climbed six points over the previous rolling three-month window, one of the larger gains on the list and a trend in the opposite direction of several other governors who saw their numbers fall.

Among Republican governors, only Mark Gordon of Wyoming (74%), Phil Scott of Vermont (69%), Kelly Armstrong of North Dakota (67%), and Brian Kemp of Georgia (63%) posted higher approval ratings.
Ivey’s 2026 race is rated Solid Republican by the Cook Political Report.
The ranking continues a pattern for Ivey, who has consistently been among the most popular governors in the country since taking office in 2017. In April 2024, a Morning Consult survey placed her fifth overall nationally with a 64% approval rating.
