Golesh on Auburn brand: ‘It’s been proven that you can do it here’

The Auburn Tigers are hitting the reset button once again this year under a new head coach, with Alex Golesh becoming the latest to try to bring back football glory on The Plains coming off what has been a very lean era for the program.

Golesh has already inspired some serious hope that he could be the one to get Auburn back to competing for SEC titles and even national titles, and fans are very much all in. By the sounds of it though, Golesh is just as much all in on Auburn as Auburn is all in on him.

During a recent interview with Chris Low of On3, Golesh spoke about his belief that this is one of the premier programs in college football and Auburn’s capable of greatness, despite the fact that they have been a bit lackluster over the last half decade.

“It’s been proven that you can do it here,” Golesh said of the chance to coach and win at Auburn. “I do think it gets frozen in time for us as adults. What my perception of Auburn is that it’s a blue-blood, upper-echelon program, and history would indicate such….We know what Auburn is. That’s why I’m here, and now we’re building back that brand.”

Golesh may or may not find the kind of success he is looking for on The Plains, but the first step is belief in Auburn and what it is capable of being, and clearly he has established that belief.

Not only is he inspiring the fanbase to think he can be the guy to get it done, but clearly, Golesh knows how special of a place this is to coach and what it can be when done properly.

Time will tell if he can get it back to that point that Tigers fans are starved for.
