Geneva, Walker County public fishing lakes reopen

Alabama’s recreational options are about to increase.

The Geneva County and Walker County public fishing lakes will be reopening Wednesday. The lakes were closed until new lake managers were named.

The Geneva County facility has two lakes that total 65  acres and the Walker County facility has a 163-acre lake. Both facilities feature public restrooms, a covered fishing pier and a boat ramp.

They have bait, fishing tackle and snacks available for purchase.

A valid fishing license and a daily $3 fishing permit is required to be admitted to both locations.

The Geneva County Public Lake is at 2308 County Road 63 in Coffee Springs.

The Walker County facility is at 4227 Walker County Lake Road in Jasper.
