Gary Palmer on ‘No Kings’ protests, government shutdown: A ‘very small minority of radical people’ are running the Democratic Party

U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) isn’t optimistic about federal government shutdown ending anytime soon because of the current state of the Democratic Party.

The government shutdown continued into it’s fourth week Monday as a majority of Democrats in the Senate again voted against a continuing resolution that would re-open the government.

Many Democrats also complained about the shutdown when they participated in “No Kings” protests against President Donald Trump in cities across Alabama and the United States.

Palmer discussed the issue Monday on WVNN’s “The Yaffee Program.”

“They talk about how many people showed up for the no kings rally, and I think nationwide, they said it was just a few million. That’s pretty much the story behind this, this handful, this very small minority of radical people are running the Democratic Party right now,” Palmer said. “And I would point out that the Democratic Socialists were… one of the sponsors of the rally The Communist Party the United States was a sponsor. And just these really radical groups funded by people like George Soros are now dictating what the Democrats do.”

The congressman also explained why the shutdown is a threat to national security.

“There’s a major national security issue out there that most people have no clue about, and it’s the fact that we’re almost totally reliant on China for refined, processed and refined rare elements. Our economy won’t work without them,” he said. “You can’t you can’t make a fighter jet or or. Are missiles. You can’t make the control panels for a washing machine or a microwave or a car. And there’s not a single major refinery in the Western Hemisphere…So here, the Democrats have a shutdown when we could be facing a major economic and national security crisis because of our reliance on China for for process, refined rare earth elements.”

Palmer said Democrats just want to expand Obamacare because they want to put the country on the path toward socialist healthcare.

“They want us to be on a single payer healthcare plan like the Britain and like Canada, where you’ll wait months to get basic diagnostic test,” he argued. “That’s one of the reasons why the mortality rates for things like breast cancer and even prostate cancer are so much higher in those countries, because people can’t get the basic diagnostics for the early diagnosis and treatment.”
