FOX News host Todd Piro advises GOP to ‘send out Katie Britt, the Senator from Alabama’

(U.S. Senator Katie Britt)

Before President Trump’s ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ passed both chambers of Congress, some pundits recognized U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) as one of the better messengers when it comes to promoting the positives of the legislation.

The Senate passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act on Tuesday after a vote-a-rama that lasted over 24 straight hours. Britt and U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) voted in favor of the measure.

It faced challenges in the House as some conservative Republican lawmakers communicated critiques of the Senate version before it passed.

This led Fox News host and anchor Todd Piro to tell his colleague on the Fox Business Channel Wednesday morning that Britt should be the one trying to convince House Republicans to get on board and pass the bill.

“It’s very difficult to message on Medicaid,” Piro said, “and that’s why I do have some advice for the Republican Party, send out Katie Britt, the Senator from Alabama. I heard her over the weekend explaining in a better way than I think…many of the older male representatives did.”

“She explained in a really kind, motherly way,” he added, “that look, we are removing Medicaid temporarily from people who have determined that they do not want to get a job or even engage in the simplest act of trying to get a job. If those people play ball with the bare minimum requirements, they will be able to get back on Medicaid…and that’s the message that needs to be driven home.”

Britt also posted to X Wednesday all the positive provisions that she fought to include in the bill.

“The One Big Beautiful Bill delivers on major promises and will provide historic relief for hardworking Americans,” Britt said. “I’m proud to have fought for Alabama through multiple provisions in this legislation.”
