Charlie Hurt is used to talking about American history from the heart of Washington, D.C.
Next spring, he’ll get to experience it the way Alabamians preserve it.
Hurt, the opinion editor of the conservative Washington Times and a co-host of “Fox & Friends Weekend,” is set to headline the Wilcox Historical Society’s annual Tour of Homes in Furman on March 27-28, 2026.
The event is a major fundraiser for local preservation efforts, supporting the work of maintaining and protecting historic structures across Wilcox County.
Hurt’s keynote address will focus on our nation’s Founding Fathers and early American history, the 250th anniversary of the nation and a question-and-answer session.
This past year’s speakers were the Viscount and Viscountess of Hinchingbrooke, Luke and Julie Montagu, who shared stories about their manor in England and toasted the start of the tour.
This year, a Friday luncheon and welcome reception will be held at Wakefield in Furman on March 27. Hurt will hold a meet-and-greet/photo opportunity during the luncheon. His formal presentation will take place during the welcome reception that evening. Tickets go on sale December 15 and are limited to Friday’s events.

Furman is located in Southwest Alabama’s Wilcox County near the county seat of Camden. The county is known for being the home of a century’s worth of Alabama political leaders, including current Governor Kay Ivey, the longest consecutively-serving governor in state history.
