Fiscal Cliff by the Numbers

The Alabama Policy Institute (API) has released a new infographic in its By the Numbers series that outlines the significant impacts to the federal budget and the budgets of families across the nation should Congress not act to avoid the fiscal cliff.

The one-page Fiscal Cliff By the Numbers infographic below details figures that show the projected 2012 deficit, as well as mandatory tax increases and spending cuts that will result from congressional inaction.

API Policy Director and General Counsel Cameron Smith hopes this resource will spur a better understanding of the fiscal cliff and how it affects Americans.

“At API, we understand that people who want information don’t always have the time to process complex public policy issues,” Smith said. “The By the Numbers series acknowledges that reality and distills API’s research into fact-based information that fits on one page.”

“An informed electorate is a powerful force,” Smith said. “Our By the Numbers series provides a basic, easy-to-comprehend snapshot that will educate Alabamians on the issues that matter most.”

Other topics addressed in the By the Numbers series include Energy, K-12 Education and Medicaid.
