This year’s SEC Media Days marks the first version of the event where Nick Saban has not participated as Alabama’s head coach.
Saban, who’s been attending since 2006, couldn’t stay away, however, making his debut as an SEC analyst. Saban colleague Paul Finebaum said his job has been much harder since Saban’s retirement.
Paul Finebaum says “this has been the worst six months” of his life without Nick Saban.

“This is self-serving here,” Finebaum said. “Since Jan. 10, this has been the worst six months of my life, without Nick Saban. I wanted to get that off my chest as we begin the college football season.”
Later in the coverage, when Saban was asked about Finebaum’s quip during an interview with ESPN’s “Get Up,” the coach was asked what his reaction is to “ruining the life” of Finebaum.
“Well he tried to ruin mine for 17 years, so I guess we’re even,” Saban said smiling.
Having Saban within the media should be a ton of fun for pundits and viewers, and it’s only just getting started.
