They call it the “R.I.P.,” and it’s pretty obvious why.
Georgia-based ammo manufacturer G2 Research has just released a 9mm round that expands on impact to create “9 separate wound channels” with a single bullet. The result is quite possibly the most lethal projectile ever created.
“Since the invention of the handgun cartridge, ammunition manufacturers have sought to maximize the lethal potential of its projectiles,” G2 explains in a demonstration video. “With this goal in mind, the founders of G2 Research in Winder, Georgia have engineered a projectile like no other.”
R.I.P. stands for “radically invasive projectile.” The bullet is made of solid copper and utilizes a patent pending trocar, or ‘three-edged’ triangular, design that essentially creates nine teeth at the tip of the bullet.
G2 says the design stabilizes the bullet as it flies through the air, then rips through obstacles like a hole saw. According to the company, “The result is a high level of accuracy and repeatability ” that gives law enforcement and civilians a “much needed advantage” when it comes to self-defense.
The 9mm round is currently the only R.I.P. product G2 has available, but they have future plans to manufacture other size rounds in the future, including .380 ACP, .357 SIG, .40 caliber, .45 ACP and shotgun slugs.
