Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall had a one word response to news that the man who was suspected of trying to bomb his office in February pleaded guilty for his crimes in court last week.
“Fight!” Marshall posted, echoing former President Donald Trump, who yelled “fight!” after being shot in an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

Kyle Benjamin Douglas Calvert was caught on camera detonating a shrapnel-filled explosive device outside the Alabama Attorney General’s Office. He was arrested for the incident on April 10, 2024.

Earlier this year, Marshall called Calvert’s radical ideology a recipe for disaster.
“[Y]ou add to not only his philosophical beliefs, but the fact that he is on social media talking about his violent tendencies and his aggressive behavior,” Marshall argued. “I mean, this is the recipe for disaster that we saw in Seattle and Portland and other places around the country. And can you imagine if his face had been seen as somebody that was in DC on January 6, what the story would be about?”
A sentencing hearing will be scheduled for Calvert in the coming months as Calvert faces a minimum penalty of five years and a maximum of 20 years in prison with no possibility of parole.
