The final member of a large drug trafficking organization operating in Alabama’s Wiregrass region has been sentenced to federal prison, closing a multi-year investigation led by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and multiple local law enforcement partners.

On November 4, 2025, 45-year-old Terrell Edwards of Ozark received a 240-month sentence after being convicted by a jury of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, cocaine, and heroin, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Edwards will also serve three years of supervised release. Federal inmates are not eligible for parole.

The sentencing wraps up a case launched in early 2023 when law enforcement began investigating drug trafficking activity linked to 46-year-old Terrance Edwards, also of Ozark. Authorities determined that the Edwards brothers were part of a 15-member organization responsible for bringing large quantities of illegal drugs into Wiregrass communities for redistribution.

Terrance Edwards was identified as a major leader in the conspiracy. In March 2025, he received a 408-month prison sentence, followed by five years of supervised release.

“The Edwards brothers and their co-conspirators flooded the Wiregrass with illegal narcotics,” said Acting United States Attorney Kevin Davidson. “Their sentences reflect our commitment to protecting the people of this district from those who endanger our communities through drug trafficking.”

“This sentencing marks the successful conclusion of a significant investigation that has dismantled a major drug trafficking organization,” said DEA Special Agent in Charge Steven Hofer. “For too long, these individuals poisoned our communities with large quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine, and heroin…”
