Doug Jones takes aim at Alabama’s CHOOSE Act

School choice is becoming an issue in Alabama’s governor race.

Donald Trump is pointing to struggling public schools and arguing that families need alternatives.

Alabama has expanded those alternatives through the CHOOSE Act, while Florida has seen enormous participation in its school choice programs.

Doug Jones is taking a different position.

He says taxpayer dollars shouldn’t be going to private schools without the same accountability and standards required of public schools, and argues Alabama should continue investing in programs like the Literacy Act and Numeracy Act.

So why make school choice a major campaign issue?

That’s becoming an important question as Tommy Tuberville and Doug Jones offer Alabama voters two very different approaches to education.
