Doug Jones is trying a Hail Mary when the game is already over

Tommy Tuberville was trending on Twitter during the nationally-televised football game between the University of Alabama and Texas A&M.

I noticed this as I watched the game at Tims Ford Lake in Tennessee, where the people at the convenience store treated me like a leper because I wore a mask while picking up a few beers and some gas station pizza before the game started.

When the commercial came on, I was kind of surprised, but I assumed it was because I had been streaming the Florida/South Carolina game on an app while casting it to the TV and that it was just an Alabama cable system commercial.

It was not. It was a national ad, and what a sad ad it was.

What? Tommy Tuberville is a “quitter”?

What does this have to do with anything related to the U.S. Senate?

Notice that “Doug Jones” wasn’t trending.

I often complain about the fact that we aren’t focusing on what matters when selecting candidates for office, but give Tuberville his due because most of his ads are pounding Senator Doug Jones (D-AL) on his voting record.

Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation? Good angle.

Second Amendment? Good angle.

Abortion? Good angle.

Taxes? Good angle.

Immigration? Good angle.

Support for Trump? At least it is good politics.

This stuff matters to Alabama voters. Those are the people that matter.

Tuberville is running ads that at least touch on the issues of the day and things that matter.

This “Quitter” ad that had Twitter trending and social media abuzz is an absolute embarrassment for Jones and an affirmation that he knows he is toast.

No Alabama voters will be swayed by the fact that a coach left a job to coach at a better job.

Do the names Nick Saban and the Miami Dolphins football team ring a bell?

This is an ad put together by people that live in New York and work in Washington, D.C., and in all honesty, that seems fair because they are the ones who are paying for this ad.

Furthermore, this sad “attack” ad will have zero impact. It may suck money away from gullible dopes in other states and get the media to show themselves as partisan operators.

But who should be the audience here? Alabama voters.

Alabama voters, especially those watching football on Saturday, know that this is a pathetic Hail Mary from a fourth-string QB on a last-place team that is down by 20 with seconds on the clock.

Next time, just take a knee.
