Does Auburn have most underrated wide receiver room in nation?

Headed into the 2025 season and the third year of the Hugh Freeze era, the Auburn Tigers are under some serious pressure, perhaps more pressure than either of the last two seasons.

In the first year for Freeze, the stakes were relatively low as he inherited a dreadful situation. They were higher in year two, but even a downgrade from year one did not lose the confidence from the majority of the fanbase.

This season though, Freeze and company have their best roster yet and one which looks like it could be capable of competing against some of the best teams in the nation.

That starts with quarterback, and not only has Auburn upgraded there, but Jackson Arnold might just have one of the better groups of wide receivers to throw to in the entire country.

Led by rising sophomore Cam Coleman who is looking to establish himself as a household name after a big freshman year, this is a room which is not getting the respect it deserves nationally.

Malcolm Simmons quietly had a phenomenal freshman campaign of his own and is looking to take another step this year, as is fellow rising sophomore Perry Thompson after he was quiet for most of his first season.

The best player in the room however might just be a new face in Georgia Tech transfer Eric Singleton Jr., who was one of the most sought after players in the entire transfer portal.

Adding a speedy element of electricity to compliment Coleman’s sheer physical domination of opposing cornerbacks, it could be the perfect combination of smash and sizzle on The Plains.

Horatio Fields — a fellow transfer from Wake Forest — has generated some noise in the spring and it seems Auburn is excited about him as well, but few players are getting more hype right now than Singleton.

Regardless, it’s a deadly dose of pass catchers for the Tigers who hope to turn around a passing game that has not reached its potential in years now.

Remember the names now, because they’ll be all over your screen and in the end zones by the time the fall rolls around.
