U.S. Senators Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) and Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) reacted to President-elect Donald Trump’s sentence in his “hush money” trial, applauding the judge’s decision.
Trump was sentenced by New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan Friday. Trump was found guilty of falsifying business records by a New York City jury last year.
“This court has determined that the only lawful sentence … is an unconditional discharge,” Merchan said. “Sir, I wish you god speed as you assume your second term in office.”
Trump reacted to the sentence on Truth Social, once again calling the whole trial a “witch hunt.”
“Today’s event was a despicable charade, and now that it is over,” he said, “we will appeal this Hoax, which has no merit, and restore the trust of Americans in our once great System of Justice.”

Responding to the sentence on X, Tuberville said he’s glad it’s “finally over.”
Judge Merchan had his 15 minutes of fame. Democrats RIGGED WITCH HUNT is finally over.

Britt the “weaponization” of the Justice Department now needs to end.
The American people made it clear in November that the political persecutions have to stop.
It’s past time to end the weaponization and return to focusing on safety and security.

Trump is filing an appeal against the ruling.
