U.S. Sens. Tommy Tuberville and Katie Britt, along with Alabama’s congressional delegation, wrapped up their statewide summer U.S. service academy info sessions this week.
The August sessions were held in Hamilton, Demopolis, Auburn, Pell City, Lincoln, Clanton, Centreville, Mobile, and Opelika.
“Our national security depends on strong leaders in the next generation who are willing to defend America at home and abroad,” said Tuberville. “It is encouraging to see so many students across our great state who are interested in answering this call to serve. The high attendance at each of our information sessions gives me hope for the future of our national defense and security.
“Nominating students for appointments to a U.S. Service Academy is one of my favorite things about being a senator, and I’m looking forward to the upcoming nominations for the Class of 2028.”
I was encouraged to see a strong turnout at yesterday’s Service Academy Info Session in Montgomery.

Alabamians have a long history of answering the call of duty, and our next generation is no exception. I’m proud to work alongside @RepMikeRogersAL, @SenTuberville, and our entire congressional delegation to host these informational sessions. https://t.co/jivn13poMy

“Alabamians have a long history of answering our nation’s call of duty, and our next generation is no exception,” said Senator Britt.
“I’m proud to work alongside Chairman Rogers, Coach Tuberville, and our entire congressional delegation to host these informational sessions for students interested in attending our service academies, and I look forward to nominating some of our state’s best and brightest to attend these outstanding institutions.”
The informational sessions tour was the first delegation-wide effort to inform students and parents in detail about the process required to attain a nomination for an appointment to a U.S. Service Academy through their congressional representatives.
Each information session gave students and parents the opportunity to learn about each office’s application process from congressional staff, met with service academy representatives, and heard from recent service academy graduates.
Students can learn more about the application requirements here.
