DeBoer’s final word: ‘You’re only as good as your last game’

The Alabama Crimson Tide is coming off once again what looked to be their biggest win of the season after a beatdown in Baton Rouge over the LSU Tigers.

But it’s not the first time this season when the Tide was coming off a huge win and taking on an opponent perceived to be much worse than them in the following week, and we saw how that worked out coming off the Georgia game headed to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt.

Granted, the Mercer Bears at home is not nearly the same challenge that the Commodores presented, but it sounds like it’s still fresh in Kalen DeBoer’s mind as he gets his team ready to play, showing his mindset on Wednesday night’s edition of ‘Hey Coach’:

“You’re only as good as your last game, and the next one is gonna be in front of us here in just a couple days, these guys know that we gotta continue to take the steps,” DeBoer said. “As good as last week was, it just is something that we are gonna continue to use and learn from and build on…looking forward to continuing to prepare the rest of the week and we’ll be ready to go get after the next opponent in Mercer, who’s a really good football team.”

It all kicks off at Bryant-Denny Stadium at 1:00 p.m. CST.
