Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe may be getting the hang of head coach Kalen DeBoer’s new offense.
DeBoer, who helped to lead former Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. to a Heisman finalist season in 2023, is known as a quarterback whisperer, and he seems to have already made improvements to Milroe’s game. On Sunday, DeBoer spoke incredibly highly of the progress his QB has made, telling reporters that Milroe “has taken the best steps I’ve seen since I’ve been here” over the previous two practices for the Crimson Tide.
“Really, the way he’s intentional about coming out. You know, even not what you say but how you do things, what your body language is. He gets that, that’s important, but he’s actually just really just leading that way and then it leads to him playing well and the other guys following suit,” DeBoer said. “Today, he came out again, really he threw the deep ball probably as well as I’ve seen him throw. That’s a lot of guys and the timing, his rhythm and all of that coming into play. He’s getting more comfortable… He’s done a nice job raising his game and asking more from himself.”
